When Smite Healing was Still a Choice

Giving up my super fun and awesome smite healing spec for a “serious” heal one now that both of my teams are getting into heroics. I am going to try the mastery/spirit build too rather than haste/crit.

I went from around 2000 haste to 1549 which took my big/slow heal from well, 2.2 base cast to… 2.2. With borrowed time it went from 1.9 to 2.0. That’s… not bad. My shields went from around 30k absorbs to 32.5. That was 12.12 mastery to 17.7. So, we’ll see how that goes. I will sorely miss smite healing in 5 mans though.

For kicks I proc’d foul gift mastery and threw down Moonwell chalice and my shields went to 82.7k. That was about 1700 mastery to 4594

You Belong in Jail

We tried heroic Morchock on my shaman last night, and got it after maybe 5 attempts. I think I could have solo healed my side if I knew Scuba was gonna drop early on several attempts and I was prepared to solo heal it.

I don’t think I like the new pally much, they seem to heal just fine but told us his name was an abbreviation for “Juicy Pussy” which kind of quieted us all down, and talked about his friend stealing all kinds of junk. And he sounds like he belongs in jail. I don’t know what it is, but certain people have a voice that sounds like the belong in the clink.

We tried heroic skitties but didn’t get it down, when despite us giving healing assignments and me saying to avoid aoes like the plague on purple, the pally holy radianced everyone to Explosionville. We did 4/8 that night and I got Windward Heart on Hagara. I wish I had these trinkets on my priest. I also feel bad now for not giving that druid, who was begging me for the LFR Seal of Seven Signs that trinket. It was an upgrade for me, at the time though.

Get over here

Was asked to heal spine/DW tonight and I foolishly accepted. I got testy when the warrior was offline doing quests on another character while “waiting for it to fill”. I’ve mentioned this before but that fucking pisses me off, I mean I have to stand around and make the group look full you should have to also.

The first pull of spine went badly, I kept getting hit by the bloods, people died right away and we wiped. The earlier warrior ninja logged. We wiped, and wiped, and wiped. At around the 5th or so wipe I said I’ve had enough I’m not doing this any more and logged my paladin. I don’t know what the problem was exactly but we wiped all last night on that stupid fight and wiped an hour tonight. Done with it.

I’m not a fan of cool downs

Did DS10 last night on my shaman, and we brought that stupid shaman Branders back, again.  Lila said she gave him his missing Major glyph, and I asked him if it was still missing.  He said no and “thanks for asking” but as of the next morning it was still missing. He told me he was using chain heal less, which is good, but was still not using it when it would be appropriate in all the group up-fests some of the fights have.

We went on to discuss his gear choices when he was begging to swap his gloves token (which was still an upgrade for him) with the helm token because his helm was still 353. I asked why he didn’t have the 378 helm, or 397 VP helm, and he said he wanted new trinkets and a ring first.  His ring was a 378 with some hit, I told him just reforge that, and his trinkets (foul gift and jaws of defeat) which both perfectly fine and the VP trinkets sucked anyway for healers. I told him you typically upgrade your lowest piece, tier/set items first, preferably.  So you’d take a new helm, over a ring.

Also pointed out that his pants weren’t for his current spec and he said “I don’t look at the set bonuses I only look at stats”. Sigh.  During Hagara I told him to use Spiritwalkers Grace during lightning to cast more than just unleash and riptide and he didn’t even know what that was.  That prompted me to ask at what points he drops spirit link (I already knew the answer was “never”) and he said rarely, then that he never did.  Then I got this brilliant quote: “”plus I am not a fan of cooldowns”.  I’m serious.

589ocyla

During the boat fight and also Hagara I continued to focus him and notice that when I was at 30% mp he often stayed around 80 or 90 and a lot of times I didn’t see him casting anything.  So he was either just not casting anything (entirely probable) or was sticking to instants. Either way that’s just terrible.

Anyway, we didn’t get spine down because the dps was fing terrible and we quit around 11:30.  I’m talking like, most of the group at 13k dps. Tired of raiding like this.

Pugs

My pally is now level 73 and most of my runs have complaints here and there but todays Nexus was good enough to note.

Had a DK tank who had no idea where he was going or what he was doing, and another DK doing about 300 dps compared to the tanks 1400 dps. That was the start. Then the dwarf hunter, I’m pretty sure, initiated a vote kick after I pointed this out with “don’t wanna carry”, that guy got kicked.

Then we had a mess of a pull where I lost the tank while I was silenced, but we cleared it with myself and 2 dps up with the DK asking for a rez while we were busy with the fight. I was complimented on my healing, and rezzed up the tank and a dps who didn’t bother running back in. I said “drinking” since I was down to 13%, but the DK ran ahead and kept pulling so I had to abort that, pop Divine Plea and trigger Speed of Light to catch up. Then we had this little conversation

Farzen- Maelstrom (dwarf hunter): What is it about making a new DK that makes people forget how to play?

Me: Lol

DK: it doesn’t

Farzen: could’ve fooled me

DK drops party.

The group wasn’t that great but I stayed just because that hunter made me laugh and I told them so. We finished with a warrior who spun Keristrasza like a top but otherwise we finished it.
