Moosumz had linked me a new transmog for my druid, which required getting the chest from Kael’thas. I don’t clear him on a regular basis, we use to do it with Time Lords but that has stopped. I got my chest, but then also, wait, no way?
Really I’ve been lucky. My mounts seem to follow a pattern.
The drake from Stonecore was on the BMAH, I bid in error on an invite, and lost 30k. A GM gave it back. I went to Stonecore after on a whim and boom, the mount dropped.
Grumpus mount was sought after during the Winter Veil event. I grumbled about leveling my priests garrison to 3 so just I could do the quests. Did the quests, got the savage gift, boom Grumpus mount.
Now the Ashes thing. Crazy!
got a kill on this guy, rolled for gold! Woo?
Panda Party in AV, first one we did a Blitz successfully and then ran around as pandas doing a Van turtle, got down to 150 vs 550+ and still won.
Apparently too many people have MY transmog now!
I was talking to Mist today about some of the changes made in the game that were directly because players complaining or gaming the system. Just a few I was thinking of.
Rolling on loot in LFR/LFD.
It use to work with Need/Greed which gave you an extra bonus if the item was for your current spec. Several problems happened with this, entirely due to players being jerks.
- Large groups of raiders, such as guild mates, all rolling on gear even if they didn’t need it to win it and funnel it to their friends.
- Players who won a token/item getting harassed, vote-kicked, killed, or other griefing measures if they didn’t give it to someone else.
- Players winning items they didn’t need, and black-mailing others to give them something else that person had won. Or, winning a highly desired item for others and sharding it, just to be an ass.
- Refusing to roll on an item and making everyone else wait the full duration before the item was won.
- Kicking someone because they won something, even if it was an item they would use, just because other people were mad.
Personal loot took care of ALL OF THIS. You get what you get and no one can do anything about it, and it’s soulbound so NO TRADING fusses.
Tag to raid group bosses or elites.
Once a raid engaged a raid boss, like Sha of Anger, only people in the raid could get loot. This led to a mad panic scramble to get in the raid, with people refusing to invite just for spite (if they had room), full raids denying people and just completely missing a long-respawn kill because you couldn’t get in the raid. Some of the world bosses were once a week, so missing a kill was very problematic. And just forget ever getting anything if you were a non-dominant faction on a very unbalanced server.
Now, it’s tag to faction, or tag to all. If you hit the boss, or heal someone hitting the boss, you get credit.
There’s still plenty of griefing to be had, of course.
I’ve been asked to get on a raiding team again, and it’s been well over a year since I’ve done it, but I don’t think I can. I’m afraid I will have an elitist douche-bag meltdown if any of the following occurs, all of which I’ve experienced at one point or another.
Husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend team where one person is horrible but the good person refuses to raid without them.
Chronically late person.
Poor loot handling.
Unprepared raiders (no food, no flasks, no repair money, no enchants)
Clueless wonder who insists on constantly updating vent on how clueless they are.
The alt-aholic who always brings an ungeared alt to the team.
Repeat offender, oops how DID they fall down that same hole for the 10th time…
and so on.
Got the relic in Ashran for the first time recently. I didn’t know it had a timer, I swear some people had it for ages originally.
Also we did Heroic ToES last week, I had never seen this fight on heroic.
Was kind of crazy, died more than a few times.
