The raid was not on tonight so I ran AV with Nilv and Jan a few times until I had enough honor to buy one of a few things but couldn’t decide what.
Then Maice, Lladin and I ran Heroic Deadmines and we got the whole thing run through and I got the achievement. Lladin wasn’t any more pleasant this run, than the first attempt I had at it though. I really must get on running the heroics for gear every day.
I forgot which day it was, but Stout and I got epic gloves drop off Tank, the shark, in Tol Barad. I gave them to my mage since they were suited for a nuker class more. So now we both have 1 purple item.
I ran Tol Barad quite a bit the other day, and it seems like a lot of our problems are people not understanding the fight at all. I keep explaining it as, it’s like Arathi if all the bases were already taken and your side has to take and hold them, all at once. But over a much larger map. I see Rayzo quite a bit in these battles, and I wave and such but I’m not sure he remembers who I am.
Today we start off doing Baradin’s Hold, which reminds me quite a bit of the cell-like area that raid boss in Rune Castle, in L2, was kept. Someone takes out a Guild Page who, unlike the previous squires, looks adult. I also buy one and get the pets achievement. Someone says something about having a ‘man toy’ and I joke “that’s how I likes ’em” and say it would be even funnier if it was under “mounts” rather than companions.
Before the raid we get to try out the goblin bbq thing, which seems a little steep in mat cost to keep putting out.
I could have sworn I took a screenshot of the boss, but it’s not in my folder so I guess I did not.
Afterwards we ran Blackwing Descent and shortly after midnight, finally killed Magmaw. I started off as a raid healer then got put on tank duty. Still with the tricks holy gets disc shields, which recently got boosted, would have to be pretty good to get past Chakra and such.
It dropped two epics, a leather thing and a mage dagger. I think a loot council works better than just rolls, which is what this guild is doing, since it takes into account attendance, raid performance, etc. Having someone show up for the first time, be annoying and win something over a person that is there all the time, is not really fair.
Today I ran another losing Tol Barad and ran into both Stout, and Rayzo. I made a clutch save with the guardian spirit on Stout once, and he saved my ass on a horde I had stunned, trying to help another player who just ran off and left me deal with it on my holy spec.
Of course.. Problim got me here 🙁
Later that night we tried that Blackrock raid, and made a bit of progress but it was quite hard.
Then I ran a few BGs with Jan and we won AV and EotS. I did that in my shadow spec and I think I did pretty well.
Today I spent the majority of my day in Tol Barad, where we won, won, then lost with people screwing around in the middle not defending. You cannot do half of the dailies when horde owns it either, turns out. Sigh. I farmed up something like 10 stacks of Whiptail, half of which I gave to Dontpunt in trade for the cloth I’ve been getting. That guy is like a Swiss army knife or something.
Since I would like to quest on the priest, still, and be useful in arena, I end up switching my disc spec to shadow. I have no intention of dungeon-ing or raiding as shadow, though. Unfortunately disc is suffering from a lack of love right now. Disc has pw barrier, pw shield, power infusion, pain supression and that inner focus buff. Oh and penance. Holy on the other hand, gets the better Renew, most of the heals disc gets, plus Circle of Healing, plus Chakra which gives you access to some neat tricks based on what spells you are using, plus Spirit of Redemption, those guardian wings, etc. Holy should have always rightfully been the better healer, but the shields lack of usefulness plus holy being “forced” into not overhealing like mad, which is how I always played, it suits me better now.
Disc would need a few more tricks before, I think, it would be on par. Maybe like a vanish or fade Final Fantasy 3 style (completely avoid the next few hits), Mirage, etc. Just having a strong shield is a little boring when you can’t outheal lots of damage fast and efficiently.
Last night we ran Heroic HoO and tried for a few achievements. I got my first heroic piece, the Scepter of Power.
Afterwards I tried holy and disc in arena with Janusz, but it’s clearly not working out. A 2 dps team can beat down a priest like it’s nothing and we have little defenses in either spec. I decide to go shadow, rather than disc, for arena pvp and so I can quest. I will still do battlegrounds, raids, and dungeons are holy though. Ran Arathi Basin before I logged, and how bad assed does this look?
Healing in battlegrounds at least makes you feel useful and can turn the tide of the battle.
