I was invited by Moo to a guild flex tonight. I did alright, I think.
But despite 2 tokens used, got nothing but gold. Drekk, or whoever was on Drek, kept goofing around though and caused us to wipe at least once.
As I was heading out to defend Thrallmar from some 90 DK killing guards, I noticed I instantly do some things no matter where I go. Here are a few of them.
Currently, people in PVE gear, even LFR gear, have it better than people in full grievous. Have a look at my un-upgraded LFR gloves. 528 ilevel. My Grievous are 522. You can’t upgrade them. Upgraded LFR is 536. You can imagine what flex and better looks like.
1) Put on your best PVE gear, minus an escape trinket and maybe a pvp weapon. Trust me. My HP for example is 440k in pvp gear, in pve it’s 510k and I’m only in LFR stuff. Full normal I’d be hitting 700k.
2) Be wary of anyone else who might have a Hardened Shell. If you FP somewhere, land and fly up, QUICK, preferably skimming towers on the way up in case you do get hit. Don’t want to fall a great distance on your way up if they DO get you. Once up, avoid those areas. Look around later at a safe distance from walls, ledges, buildings, towers.
3) If you have to afk in the air, do it HIGH. Zealous assholes (like myself) who can do damage while falling, levitating, slowfalling, or glider-ing, can and will burst you in the air and drop you. That’s embarrassing, try to avoid it. If you are high enough, by the time they hit the ground, and come back up, chances you’ve self healed enough.
4) Use the terrain. Land on a tower, a roof, if you can knock them off, do so. Also prevents rogues from stealthing up. If ranged, shoot down from somewhere high, a lot of times DK’s can’t get LoS on you.
5) Use OP npcs! The NPCs in Thrallmar for instance, had a stun that has NO DR. You can get stunned over and over the same time repeatedly. This is NOT fun for the Alliance. The NPCs in Honor Hold knock you back sometimes but I don’t find it as annoying when I’m Horde. Some will even dismount the enemy for you.
When you use the Hardened Shell on them, they travel so far so fast, they are usualy 1,000 feet in the air before it actually hits, then hilarity ensures.
The nice thing about Halaa is you can get them from the islands, if they aren’t paying attention, from on top of the buildings, or as they hover above the water, which is only safe in a very narrow margin. Otherwise, splat!
I say this since in world pvp, the other pvpers are Alliance, and usually raid geared, which is 100k-300k or more hp on you plus thousands of stats more. You have to be clever and use terrain and other objects to get the upper hand.
Hm so a lot to catch up on. Deadfrog, during the last RBG said they would invite me, but when I logged in at the right time the next week, they did not, nor did he reply to my question about it. I was a bit ticked. The only Horde rbgs yolo’s going on in Oqueue either want 515 ilevel, which I don’t have yet (but I have a Grievous weapon), or just don’t pick me up as a hunter. I learned to play MM also which I think I like better, less dependence on a pet.
I am sort of regretting the move to Horde, also. As Horde you HAVE TO block IoC and AV, unless you want to 90% of the time queue into those and 90% of the time lose them. That means you have no flexibility to block maps you really hate (Gilneas) or the CTA (bad without a group). And of course let’s talk about waiting 10-15 mins to get in a bg, and losing, like the SSM I had today where we didn’t get one cart capped. Frustrating.
Now all that, I can deal with. The thing I’m having the most problem with, is I switched to Horde because I knew more PEOPLE. But, they are either not logging on (Ladiesman), or haven’t played in ages (Lemm), don’t ask to queue up or don’t respond to invites for groups (the DogsofWar people) etc. I am not having fun playing as single player.
Now that is out of the way, my gosh world pvp. I felt the difference in gear on my druid, but typically not as much. A raid geared dps could give me a hard time, sometimes solo me even, but it usually took some real skill. I am ok with this.
On my hunter, omg. I tried to fight a disc priest with nearly 700k hp (ilevel 567). They hit me for 60k Penance and 70k SW death. My HP pool in my lfr gear is about 450. That’s not amusing that a healer can cut 20% chunks of my health like that while healing and shielding like it’s nothing. And yes, I’ve apologized to hunters many times for soloing them when I was in raid gear on my priest. Generally that was in instanced pvp though and they were just bad.
Then I ran into a Dk with nearly 900k health. I unloaded on him. I barely moved his HP bar, it was really quite absurd. He went about his business in Halaa like I wasn’t even there. The next patch better fix this.
Anyway on to fun things, the Hardened Shell, which I have on all of my pvpers now, has some fun delay effects. See that DK spec in the background by the hill?
He was standing on Falcon Watch, mounted and I threw it just as he took off. DKs can move faster than others and the shell followed him but didn’t land until 4 or so seconds later, when it hit him high in the air and he fell to his death. Deaths in the air make me smile.
I’ve been having fun on my hunter lately, killing rares easily instead of trying to do it as a HotW resto kitty is addicting. I smashed a resto druid and hunter who were bothering Bloodhoof Village repeatedly, until the druid went bear and they both came back and killed me. Ah well I got them at least 8 times.
I’ve also been dpsing with Deadfrogs rbg team, and I was second in DPS to their best, and top dps. The bad mage, Etheros, was nowhere near. I did some rare farming with him and I was doing 75% or more of the dps. I asked him a question about combustion, since you use to have to track all your dots and whatnot to use it correctly and he just replied “I don’t”. Don’t know, know? Do it right? Both?
Drek asked me to make some LWing items for me, and I did but, he feels young. You know, that “and and and and then and then” type of request. Not a big deal but approaching Soulprince status after asking for 8 things to be made, the thread and dye bought by myself, and the enchants placed myself. I only tolerated because Sat made me a glove enchant the other day.
We also had a hunter who kept saying in gchat, over and over that he found a rare, and who wanted it. He said it was called No-no. No No is a legendary battle pet you fight for a quest. Or for giggles I suppose. He kept asking who wanted to tame it, I said it’s not a hunter pet. He asked who wanted to catch it, he was right by it and could invite. I told him what it was. So, we have that, then he was saying something else clueless, like didn’t know why a 90 tank shouldn’t go with level 88’s in a dungeon (they ruin the exp). I asked if he was new, he said he had 4 90’s. I’m not sure how you get that far and ask so many noob questions but who knows.
